The just-released “Jack Nicklaus Guide to the 2013 Masters” is the third installment in a series of Jack Nicklaus-branded magazines published by Boston Hannah and licensed by the Nicklaus Companies.
The new guide details Jack’s record six Masters Tournament victories, paying special tribute to the 50th anniversary of his first Green Jacket. That 1963 win, as well as the other five, are vividly illustrated by renowned sporting artist Walt Spitzmiller, with images from his upcoming book, “Jack’s Majors.”
The magazine also reflects on Heroes of the Masters, recognizing the only eight players in history to win more than two Green Jackets, including: Jack Nicklaus (6), Arnold Palmer (4), Tiger Woods (4), Jimmy Demaret (3), Sam Snead (3), Nick Faldo (3), Gary Player (3), and Phil Mickelson (3).
While the magazine looks back, it also looks ahead to this year’s Masters Tournament and profiles some of the contenders, such as former winners Angel Cabrera, Trevor Immelman, Charl Schwartzel, Bubba Watson, Mickelson and Woods. It also looks at those vying for their first Green Jacket, including Keegan Bradley, Luke Donald, Dustin Johnson, Matt Kuchar, Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose. A special section highlights Watson, who recorded an emotional victory in 2012, winning his first Green Jacket with a remarkable shot from amid the pines in a playoff.
Just as the past “Jack Nicklaus Guides” have done, the magazine provides helpful playing tips using illustrations by famed artist Jim McQueen, whose original images are being featured monthly by Golf Digest.
